- Warren Buffet
"Up until the age of 20, I was absolutely unable to speak in public. Just the thought of it made me physically ill. I would literally throw up. I selected courses in college where I didn't have to stand up in front of the class, and arranged my life so that I would never find myself in front of a crowd. If I somehow did, I could hardly say my own name. I'm not sure what led to this problem, but it was there in a big way.
When I was at Columbia Business School, I saw an ad in the paper for a Dale Carnegie public-speaking course and figured it would serve me well. I went to Midtown, signed up, and gave them a check. But after I left..."
"...I swiftly stopped payment. I just couldn't do it. I was that terrified. I returned to Omaha after graduating and got a job as a salesman of securities. I knew that I had to be able to speak in front of people. So again, I saw an ad in the paper and went down to sign up; but this time I handed the instructor one hundred dollars in cash. I knew if gave him the cash I'd show up. And I did. There were about thirty other people in the class and we all had trouble saying our own names. We met once a week for a dozen or so weeks. They would give us different types of speeches to practice and taught us psychological tricks to overcome our fears. There was that communal feeling that we were all in the same boat and really helped one another get through the class. The impact that class had on my life was huge. In fact, I don't have my diploma from the University of Nebraska hanging on my office wall, and I don't have my diploma from Colombia up there either - but I do have my Dale Carnegie graduation certificate proudly displayed. [The Dale Carnegie Course] gave me the most important degree I have. It’s certainly had the biggest impact in terms of my subsequent success. Whatever you do, good communication skills are incredibly important and something that almost anybody can improve upon, both in writing and speaking." Adapted from Warren Buffet's interview in Getting There: A Book of Mentors by Gillian Zoe Segal.

Our methodology creates an environment of safety and trust among the participants. We “coach in the moment,” which means building on strengths, pushing the comfort zone to develop confidence, uncovering blind spots, and providing timely and targeted feedback. We create a safe space for participants to talk about real issues and be candid and sensitive with each other. Our facilitators discuss principles, processes, and theories that relate directly to the participants’ actual life. We ask participants to identify specific, real situations they have faced in the past, or are facing now. Our simulations are like dress rehearsals for a real scenario. The more “real” the discussion and practice, the more the principles taught will stick with you. Transformation happens when we facilitate an experience where learners are given the space to make growth decisions for themselves. It’s not about the trainer pushing or forcing a change on the participant. It's about enabling people to transform themselves. Dale Carnegie believed that “Every participant must leave with a sense of victory.” Our trainers focus on each person's progress toward their unique goals with feedback that is specific to them.

Based on the 30 Human Relations Principles in Dale Carnegie's famous How To Win Friends & Influence People, our methodology is based on the idea that emotional intelligence and human relationships are the foundation of success.
We've broken that idea down into three phases, taught over three days:
1. Enhancing Relationships: Build a solid foundation of self-confidence and emotional intelligence
2. Influencing Others: Learn to share your ideas and work well with others
3. Leading Others: Cast a vision, inspire others to follow, and lead them well
The Generation.Next workshop is designed to tap into your natural strengths and chip away at the things that intimidate you and hold you back.
Because we see the leadership abilities hidden within everyone - even you.
Dale Carnegie was founded in 1912, inspired by one man's belief in the power of self-improvement. Since then, it's evolved into a movement that's crossed borders and generations, showing thousands of organizations and millions of people how to lead others and inspire positive change.
